Hello folks, I'm 25 and I'm about to purchase my first motorcycle. I want to be a cruiser and nothing else. So far I have two bikes on radar: Honda Shadow 600 and Suzuki Marauder 800. I know about the Shadow having only 4 gears and the clutch problems on the Marauder. I'm 6'1 btw.
I need few opinions from someone with more experience, so I can get a final decision. I know the Honda is really reliable and sturdy, but I could use the 5th gear on the Marauder.

Best bike I've ever owned was a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom.
Had two of them, in fact. Highly recommended.
Had a Shadow 600 too. It was just OK and may be too small for you.
Generally the number if gears isn't doing what you think it is.......as the final drive ratio in top gear is usually the same and the extra gears just gives you better control at lower speeds.

You may have already done so, but the rider safety course is a must for first-time owner/riders. I'm an older guy, but you might want to check out the Indian line - they may appeal to you also. Happy hunting!
