Myself and a few friends came upon an old zsuzuki 80cc bike at the recycling center, we threw it in the truck and brought it home. After cleaning years of gunk out of the fuel tank and lines, and cleaning the carb, filling it with two stroke oil (it has oil injection) we managed to get it to start and it runs very well at high speeds, but if i let off the throttle, even a second, it bogs and despite any efforts, it will die down. We sometimes have to prime it with some carb and choke cleaner to get it to start and it runs well on that but then starts to die on us. It will run at high speeds, but dies on letting it off, making me think it might be a fuel issue. The carb is pretty tired and though i know little of carbs, one of the guys said the "floats" looked old. Could this be the cause of the problem? I would give more information on the age of it, but all the stickers are gone off it. One marking we found appeared to indicate that it was from the late 1970's. I will take some photos of it tomorrow to get you a better indication of it, maybe some video to help too. I appreciate any help or advice you can give!

(BTW, the compression is excellent, so thats probably not it.)

I had a person offer me the exact same bike (by what you discribed it) and i would of loved to have it but the day i was going to buy he said he didnt have the title but i wanted this bike badly.

But the point is i would like to know the model of this bike.


And is there any way he can get an other title some where what is the point of a title any way?

This sounds like a dr 80 no speed but wide open is possibly a base gasket leak its an easy check and hard to spot.but i've had it happen good luck ron:bluethum:

As long as the float floats then it should work just fine. However, you may not have it properly adjusted. It may be flooding out due to the float level being way to high. Also you may have some debris that clogged the pilot jet again. When you cleaned the carb, did you remove and thoroughly clean the jets also, or did you just clean the bowl and put it back together? You say you don't know much about carbs, so I just want to be sure that it's good and clean. Just spraying some cleaner in it won't do; you usually have to actually run a physical object through the jet to clear out the junk that has accumulated over years of sitting. I use one or two strands off a wire brush usually. All it takes is a pin head size piece of grit to clog the pilot jet and really have a negative effect on the way the bike will run. Just don't try to shove something through it that is bigger than the oriface size. That will damage the soft brass jet.
