Hey guys whats up. Im new to the forum here and had a quick question.

First things first. My name is Matt and I live in Eau Claire Wisconsin. I use to own a 02 YZF600r until a month ago. Then I totalled it. :(

So obviously I've been in the market for another bike. To be completely honest Im kind of a Yamaha guy but I think thats just cause Ive never tried anything else. I visit the R1 Forum as well and a lot of them there say if they were to buy a 600 it would be a GSX-R.

Anyways, I went to my local Dealer and they have 4 GSX-R 600's. 2 750's, and a 1000. I was just going to get a 600 but that 750 is looking very tempting.

My question is is they are 04's but they still have the regular sticker price on them. I beleive the 600's said 8200 and the 750's were like 92 or 9300 cant remember which. But I know they were all at 04 sticker value. If I decide to buy the 750 how much should I ask for it? I dont want to pay Full price for something thats already a year old, whether it has miles on it or not. Which these have NO miles, BRAND NEW. How much of a drop in price should I ask for?

Also one more question. How much is INS usually on the 750 compared to the 600's? Are they a lot more, not much??

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

BTW Very nice looking forum you got. :)

Welcome!! Question: What happened w/ the last bike?

I would try to get them to knock $1000 off the top of the bike...they've all got the '05's coming in and they might be willing to deal. They probably won't go for the $1000, but always shoot high!!

Only 7 short weeks ago I paid 9500, he gave me a helmet, kissed my @$$, kicked in some accesories, gave me 30% off anything i bought while in the store buying my bike, and checked in with me 4 times to see how I was doing on my bike.

Now he had to FIND a 750 since they were mostly sold out in this area. So I didnt have a lot of room to negotiate on price. But I've sent two guys up their and they will probably get asome bikes next year. I'll get a little check for that.

As for price, I dunno. I pay 99 a month for full coverage through nov. and 85 total for dec-march while it sits. i dont know how much the 60 was/is, but i know i am getting off CHEAP compared to some guys on 6's that I ride with.

Thats what I was thinking. I remember when the 04 R1's were almost out and They had a 03 R1 here still for sale at Hauks Power sports and they said they would nock a 1,000 off the price. So Im thinking a 1,000 is the least they should take off considering its a year old already. Thanks.

The last bike I had I totalled in a accident. I'll put some pictures up .

Still slap myself for not having all my gear on. I usually ALWAYS wear my gear and the 1 time I didnt, I crashed.

9 stitches in my ear, and my cheek as you can plainly see is scratched up. Plus had Road Rash on my right Arm and elbow, and 3 of my knuckles on my right hand were ground down to the bone.

Nah my INS company totalled it out. 4500 in damage. They gave me 4750 for the bike. They asked if I wanted to buy it back but I said no. Now that I think of it I should of atleast asked how much they wanted for it. I probably could have made some money off it. But Im just happy its over with, and I got my loan paid off.

Also had about 2300 in medical bills. Ambulance ride with Oxygen and IV stuck in me was 850.00 And the Hospital bills, "Tetnis shot, stitches, Rash clean up and bandages, X-Rays, etc etc was another 1500. But my Bike INS policy covered 1,000 in medical, and my Health INS through work took care of the rest. So I came out pretty good.

And yes I did come out of it VERY lucky. My car ended up underneith the rear of my friends car, lifting the back of his car off the ground about 5 inches. I hate to tell the story cause I know Im gonna get flamed, and boy was I freakin stupid for doing it but..... I was wheelieng through a park during a SoftBall game for work. We were playing SoftBall to raise money for charity. As I was wheeling I realized I Was getting to close to people/friends and didnt want to risk it anymore. So I dropped the front back down and lightly put on my rear brake to slow down. The ground was wet, and oily and the rear of the bike kicked out to the right and I started falling to my left side. Thats all I remember. Then I blacked out.

I talked to my buddies at work that witnessed the whole accident and they said they still dont know how I didnt end up underneith the car instead of the bike. They said I was sliding towards the car with the bike sliding right towards me. But then the bike caught something on the ground, and the bike flipped over me in the air and went underneith the car. I kept sliding until I slid into my bike to stop me. My head hit the gas tank pretty hard. I dont remember any of that though. I just woke up next to my bike and that was it.

I got a 367 dollar Wreckless Endangerment Ticket and 6 points on my licence.

I am 23 years old and this is my first accident and ticket EVER in my whole life. So you can imagine Im pretty upset at myself for being a dumbass. Not wearing gear, and doing stunts in a Public park. I still dont know what got into me.

But everything turned out pretty good considering. And a HUGE lesson learned. Learn from me people. Dont be stupid. :)

Well said!!!! Don't worry...you're not going to get flamed. The important thing is that you realize that it was a stupid thing to do. We've all done stupid things while riding and later thought..."I know better than that".

Thank you for sharing your experience...we've got a few "youngins" around here that could use the advice from a young guy like yourself...they think we're all to old to listen to!!

I see your from St.Paul as well. Not far from me.
yeah, not far at all...I ride in Wisconsin all the time...usually ride along 35...some really nice twisties there!

We usually ride the flood run and the "nuts" runs as well...you?
Well no specific Highways I ride really. Just wherever the bike takes me pretty much. Im kind of an Explorer. Usually I like to ride North of Eau Claire, up by Rice Lake(hometown) then go out by Shell Lake, Spooner, etc.. Lots of little towns around this area and lots of nice curvy backroads. Thats about it. No real Route I take so to say. Stop every once in a while at a Gas station and eat and have a drink, and go again. On a good day I'll put on 300 plus miles.

Ofcourse now with no bike Im going nuts, plus the riding season is almost over.

God Winter sucks. I would by a sled, but with the way winter has been, well....... you know how its been.

OI think I'll move to Texas, or Cali next year. :p Yeah, thats the ticket. :)

Just to restate the obvious here ... you could have saved yourself alot of pain (and money) by wearing the right gear. Why would you sit on a sportbike without a helmet??? When you buy the new bike ... make sure that you have enough $$$ left over to get yourself some quality gear!

In 2005 only the 1000cc will have a new model. 600 and 750 will stay the same. They could probably change just the graphics.
Still, it's october and the prices should be lower now!
