I'm going to ask the same question EVERYONE I'm sure has already asked.

I know that you all advise taking a course and getting quality gear before purchasing a bike, and not to purchase a too powerful bike, since clearly beginners will make a ton of mistakes.

I have a friend wants to buy a bike soon, and I was just wondering what bikes he should look into buying in order for him not to end up dead on the way out of the dealership?

Any advise would be awesome.

Thanks guys.

Does he have any riding experience. Does he have his eye on a certain type of bike, such as a gsx-r , cruiser. possibly a motorscooter.

Gsx-r if no exp should be out of the question. That is the biggest mistake, fortunitly I haven't brought mine down yet, since a gsx-r 6oo was my first bike but I have had close calls.
If he is looking for a streetbike type he should go with a katana 600 or less or what my favorite is that they came out with in 04 is the GS500F it is about 5k for a new 04. Which is not bad. and it looks awsome

It has the same body structure as the gsx-r 1000 so it looks alot like a gsx-r but it is without all the extra power that is not needed to learn on. He will look sharp on it but not be so likely to kill himself.

If I knew this bike was around before I bought my 02 gsx-r 600 I would have gone with that. I wanted a gsx-r because I loved how they look. Now I got a death machine that is calling my name every sunny day and whispering in my ear when I am riding to give her more Juice. lol

If he doesn't like the way the katanas look, just like it wasn't my flavor. The GS500F is something to definitly look at

Hope this helps[/url]

:welcomes: to the site.

From your post, I think it's a first bike. So a GS500F for a sports type bike would the best option.

As for riding out of the dealer, well, tell him to take the course first. Who knows he might not even enjoy bikes afterall...
