Hey everyone, been working hard on my bike changed the oil, oil filter plugs got the air filter on the way, clymer book very helpful...just had a question...when i start the bike and have it off the kick stand so its straight up it idles just fine but when i put the kick stand down so the bike is on an angle it revs up to 4 then slowly goes down then goes up and back down...any reason why it does that? is that normal? should i be checking for something?? thanks!

Carb float levels come to mind,,, maybe the float is sticking,, although how does it run while riding it and when in a lean? If you are not sure I would not recommend seeing how it does in a lean in case it goes dead.

I wouldn't think it should idle irratically when the bike is on its kickstand. I would also call a dealer and ask them as well. But it sounds like there may be a float problem or needle sticking. You didn't specify if the bike has been sitting for a while and if this is the initial service of the season. Maybe old gas in carb, sludge in the bowl, trash, etc.
Any of those can cause a Carb's needle or floats to stick.

Yea that very well could be, when i bought the bike it had been sitting for a while, I drained the gas from the tank, but i didnt even think about the carb, ill have to check that...just seems a little strange that it only happens when on the kickstand...but thanks, ill check all the things you mentioned...i acually just got the bike about a month ago so im just replacing all the old things, like i mentioned. is there a way to drain the gas out of the carb? or will that be in the clymers manual? thanks a lot for your help!

I am not familiar with that bike or the carb setup,, look in the manual or if not check the bottom of the bowl for a drain screw or something of the sort. Good luck on it!!!
