I go around 100-110 on a tank full to the top /while upright/
All the articles I've red stated that you can go about 130 miles before reserve.
Is this something to do with my Gixxer 600 being a California model!?
I've beeng wondering for a long time now but just now post the question.

p.s I fill it to the lower edge of of the tank hole /...there must be a name for it.../
and I mesure the distance before the light for reserve goes on.

You mean you fill the tank to the bottom of the "filler neck".

I get between 32 and 46 miles per gallon on my 1k. I think you should get that or better.

With hard riding I get about 110 miles before my fuel light comes on indicating I have .8 gallons left of the original 4.8 gallons. The only time I see 46 miles per gallon is cruising open flat roads, which I try not to do!

On average I get 140 miles before the fuel light is on.

Check this out

Hey, about your mileage. Your bike should be getting a range of 32 to 38 miles per gallon. That being a 35 mile per gallon average. So 35 times the 3.8 gallon feul capacity and you should be averaging 130 miles to the gallon. As far as your bike being a california model, i dont know much abuot that so youll have to go elsewhere for the facts in that department. My only explanation that i know of is your bike not be properly calibrated for your altitude (your height of sea level). That effects wether your bike runs lean or not, which can effect your fuel consumption. Look into that. Hope this helps.

I get about 100-110 miles until the fuel light starts flashing, 90 if I am playing hard.

Ventura County has red-light cameras. The f****** intersection lights don't work for crap with sportbikes, but those damned cameras work JUST fine!

Thanks, I see my figures are around the normal, interesting thing about the see level and the calibration.
And finaly I usually put around 3 galons which last me around 100 miles which is about 33miles per galon. Damn, it's still high!
About revving the engine, on freeway I usually keep around 7-8 rpm, especially in traffic.
/filler neck! thanks for the clarification  /

That's a good point; you will generally get better gas mileage on Premium fuel, since it burns slower.

I try to use 89-93 octane, and recently got ~160 miles to the tank (highway) before reserve... But it may be too early to tell, as I just got the 600-maint done.

Do I smell another fuel debate in the making?

I've got access to neodymium magnets. I'm seriously considering mounting one to the inside of the fairing. Will that have an adverse effect on the electronics?

That I don't know. I prefer to have the mag in my boot heel and just place it on the sensor loop at the intersection. Besides, it's easier to clean off the nails, screws, bottlecaps and paper clips from my boot rather than the bike!

--Heh; I have personal experience with this. Had an '87 Honda Super Magna a few years ago. 700cc, V-4, shaft drive, *tiny* tank. If you put _anything_ less than 92 octane in it, you wouldn't even get 100 miles/tank, reserve included(!).

--A bit underpowered compared to my Valk (at one point I had both bikes at once) and also underpowered compared to the "modern" 750 Magna, but the looks were unbeatable for the price. Upswept pipes, 4-into-4 exhaust, and the styling was reminiscent of a Ducati. Plus it was fun to ride. :)

Google for "Honda super magna" under Images if you want to see what it looked like.

I still miss that bike sometimes; had to sell it to a friend 'cuz I was running low on money. :(
