help, how to remove the front wheel

I decided to remove the wheels off my gixxer and to bring it to the shop for tire replacement./I ordered tires over internet/
The back wheel was very simple but the front has this huge axel oppening that I can't find a wrench siutable for the task.
How do you guys do it?
My bike is a gsxr 600 04.
thanks!

Get a front paddock stand, crack loose the main nut, then loosen the smaller ones that nip the forks tight and undo the caliper mounting bolts.
Undo the main nut and pull both sides out, one is longer than the other,
the whell should drop out but you have to make sure you don't try and drag the calipers, just move them out the way.

I have the stand and all the tools, I do it as the manual says, just that big hole in the axel "main inverted nut..." and the inverted socket are the trouble.

I tryed 'pep boys' auto zone' a guy even looked in a catalog but couldn't find such a socket..

you can just go to your local tool store and get a k-d tools #2569 socket and flip it around. that works, and it is only like $3

On GSX1400.ORG, they recommended to go to a local hardware store, get a large bolt and two nuts that fit snug in the socket. Then cross-thread (or weld) the two nuts firmly onto the bolt, and slip that into the axel-nut. You can then use a normal socket- or torque-wrench to loosen and tighten the axel-nuts.

I haven't tried this ... when the tire needs replacing, it'll have to go to the stealer at the moment, since I don't have any racing stands.
