Dude that bike looks like a prototype, save your money and put a Down payment on a 600 or something newer.

The 87's were definately nice, but I don't know if its your first or a toy of what. I think its a little much for a 17 year old bike and I would consider something a little newer.

Just my 2 cents.

You're asking the wrong crowd, I think. Might find a vintage bike forum.

its vintage, have it, wait 10 years, clean it up and maybe find a stock engine and you can make a fortune off of it. thats how my grandpa did it. he had like 9 model t's from his father and he cleaned them up and made a fortune and he souped up old 50's cars too.

Modern Vintage. In many Roadracing organizations (sans the CMRRA) 10-years old or older is considered vintage for racing purposes.

I think $2500 would be good for a clean bike with factory paint. But, repainted, this is more like a $1500 - $1800 bike. Period "mods"? They must mean the aftermarket filters on the stock CV carbs. Likely has an aftermarket pipe and is jetted. I see exactly nothing else in that pic that is modded. I guess the LP headlight bubble can be considered an "addition", but not a modification.

That being said, it looks a hell of a lot better than many I have seen lately.

Oh, BTW, stay away from the "850" big bore kit. That mod just made that motor very unreliable. 771 overbore is standard for that motor. This one has swapped parts to get the 850 size. If you break it, it will cost a lot of time and money to fix.

I recant, the ad said "options". OK, I guess I can buy that. Also looks like it is missing the seat lock and rear fender has been cut. Tires look old too. Left upper fairing has been chopped (or broken in a crash). Mirror is attached to the windscreen as opposed to going through the fairing then the screen.

I would rip the bike to hell in front of the salesman. Figure it will need the following:

Fork Seals
Valve adjustment
Possibly chain and sprockets
Tires

Umm, unless you can get them to bite at 2K or less, walk away.
