I got a new bike this weekend! I traded my 04 gixxer 600 for an 03 Marauder 800. It's black. It was brand new and still sitting on the showroom floor. The dealer gave me a great deal because he desperately wanted to move it off the floor. He threw in $800 worth of accessories for free because it was his last Marauder and he wanted it gone. I'm much happier now. The ride is so much more comfortable and my wife is more comfortable on it too. Now we can take it on long rides, like we've wanted to do for a while.

There's just one thing that bothers me......the clutch doesn't take hold until it's fully engaged. I keep thinking I'm always in neutral because I'm giving it gas and letting off the clutch and it won't move until it's fully out. I'm really uncomfortable with this because no bike I've ever had has had a clutch that grabs so far out. Is it possible to adjust the clutch so it will grab at 1/4 or 1/2 out?

Please don't execute me because I'm not a sport biker anymore. :)

Congratulations on your purchase. I too bought a new '03 Marauder 800, about 5 months ago. Got a pretty good deal too as it was the last '03 in the place.

Don't know what to tell you about the clutch. Maybe the cable needs adjusting. Mine doesn't act like you describe, but it doesn't start to engage until the lever is almost all the way out. All of my bikes over the years have been cruisers and the clutches all acted pretty much the same way.

Yes, I read over it, but I don't remember seeing anything about the clutch cable adjustment. It's probably in there and I just overlooked it.

Wow. From a sportbike to a cruiser. Never thought I'd see the day.

Your clutch cable has a screw adjuster. Adjust it. :p

Enjoy!

Yep. It's a lot more comfortable and I'll be able to take it on long rides with the wife. I'm looking forward to spring already, and it's not even officially winter yet! :D

Really? If he lived close to me, that would have probably been a pretty good deal. How loud are the cobra pipes? I was thinkin about adding after market pipes later down the road. I just want a little more of the deep, cruiser sound, but I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud. Is that even possible?

Congrats! I hope your brief foray into racing bikes didn't set you back too far moneywise. 8)

It didn't. I only did a few mods to the gixxer before I traded it. The cruiser was almost $2,000 less than the gixxer, so that helped too.
