Gonna keep it short and sweet, thanks in advance to anyone who does reply with advice! '07 Boulevard C50T
Not a professional mechanic, but have been doing my own work for awhile on vehicles to save labor costs. Went to pull the rear cylinder spark plug trying to find why oil is splattering on the bottom of the gas tank and get an idea on whats going on inside the engine since the bike did sit in storage for a year from its previous owner and needs work. Socket got stuck inside the housing, went to pull it out and noticed it was binding up on a bolt. Stupid me didn't think to find out what the bolt was prior to trying to take it out to get the socket out of the spark housing. Now the rocker arm bolt wont go all the way back in, and think I may have pulled it out far enough for the washer on the inside to fall. Did hear a small "*****", bolt came out maybe half the way prior to me yelling at myself for (messing stuff) up more and putting the ratchet down to do some homework on how to get it fixed. Was already planning on checking the valve clearances prior to turning her over again.
My query is if it is possible to get that washer back in place from just the inspection window and get that bolt back in, or does the cylinder head cover need to come off? And if the later, does the cover just "pop" off, or does it take a pry bar and Hercules to separate it?
Again, thanks in advance for anyone willing to help!

Gonna post this in case someone else does it and needs assitance in the future. If you accidentally pull the rocker arm bolt like I did, you can get it to go back in by pulling off the appropriate valve cover. I got lucky and the washer inside had not fallen, it was sandwiched between the rocker arm and side of the cylinder head cover. Used a mechanics pic to re-position the washer for the inside of the rocker arm bolt (It slid just enough to stop the bolt from going back in), aswell as to GENTLY rock the rocker arm while GENTLY tapping the bolt until it finally slid the rest of the way in and could be tightened. Just took some patience to get it done :)
Thanks Moderator for your support!

Now to find out where that oil is coming from because litteraly the only witness marks are on 2 of the electrical connectors under the tank, as well as on the the backside edge of the fuel pump mounting bracket on the outside of the tank. There is absolutely NO oil anywhere else which is maddening. Can't fix what you cant find. And to re-wire the fuel pump, again, since one of the gauge wires got caught and melted to the inside of the pump mounting bracket(assuming that is what caused the problem that made me stop riding it till fixed). Wanna do the valve adjustment, but the darn throttle body wont detach and the intake valve cover on the number 1 cylinder is a PITA.

RIDE SAFE!!
