Not many pics today. Ride was really slow today. Lots of LEO activity. Probably due to all the recent bike fatalities there the last few weekends. Heres a post on our sllooowwww short ride.
------------------------------------------
Met Wendy at Balboa and the 118 this morning. Wendy and I rode out to Jays Shell and met Digger there at 8:30. The usual squids were coming and going as we hung out for a few minutes. A couple riders were mentioning how many LEO's were out today. We would find out soon enough.

We stopped part way up at a turnout took some pics and discussed the heavy enforcement today. I actually ended up in a photo with the gixxer for the first time! I seem to always be the one behind the camera.

Every rider coming down the Crest was warning of the Leo's ahead. First one we met was a 4 wheeler that already had a customer. The second one was another four wheeler wedged in the bushes so tight you could hardly see him until you were right on top of him. Another was a moto unit that rolled out after we passed and followed us from a distance for several miles before turning off. Needless to say I held it right at the speed limit all the way to Newcombs.

Arriving at Nukes we were surprised to see a fair amount of sportbikes, but not a single cruiser. So with some tire kicking and a little conversation, we discover the LEO's were hard at work on the mountain as early as 6:30! One rider had his day ended when he was stopped for doing 100. not sure if he was in the 45 or 55 speed zone at the time. Two other riders got written for 20 over. One more got stopped for 10 over and no motorcycle endorsement earned his shiny new R1 a free ride down the mountain to the impound yard. Now that's a lot of revenue, since the Crest is a double fine zone!

Not that I'm against doing the speed limit or close to it, but that much enforcement just put a huge damper on the ride. So we decide to head down the mountain at the speed limit and call it a day. Neither Digger or I need any more Performance Driving Awards!

Her's a few pics.

It was a nice "putt" literally. It's a nice "brisk" ride during the week when everyone else is on the freeways! I have no problem finding a few other riders to call in sick and ride it mid week!

We link it to several other roads that cover four other mountain ranges for over 500 miles of twisties in one day! And that's with maybe 2% of the ride on any freeway! With a little luck we can be home in time for dinner!

Now that's my idea of a weekday commute! :biker:

Wendy is testing that lid for Harley Davidson. It's sweet. All Carbon Fiber and only 3 pounds! If it didn't say Harley on it I'd get one! I don't think it's available yet. It also has better peripheral vision than most full face helmets. I'm sure it will be a big hit with the Buell riders.

My leathers are old. Should get some new ones when my next million rolls in! Right! They aren't cheap these days, even the cheap ones are expensive. Maybe at Christmas. Nice thing is having several sets of gear so they all last longer! Not crashing helps even more!
