Hey, here's my stat's and scenario: I'm 19yrs. old from chicago, I've no traffic violations, my truck is insured with State Farm, and now my bike is insured w/ full coverage with state farm for almost exactly 100 dollars a month. Which statled me when he told me the monthly premium, because I pay $90/mo. for my 93 4x4 for just comprehensive. State farm will hook you up if you are a good driver. The catch 22 is this...the only way they'll insure a bike is if you have an auto insured with them as well. The longer you've been insured with them, the cheaper the rate. It would have been nearly $250 a month if I hadn't been previously insurered with them.

in addition, think about where you keep the bike at night. im in the chicago area as well, and before i even got to giving them my personal and bike info, they wanted to know if it was going to be kept in a garage, or some other type of shelter. insurance companies see motorcycles as a far bigger risk to insurance for theft, and of course accident reasons. insurance basics (good driving record, married, over 25).

other than that, just know its probably a lot cheaper to pay a few extra bucks and have it covered in the event of theft or accident, then not having it all.

I live in Newfoundland, Canada, have been driving bike for 19 years (35 years old) and full coverage on my '02 750 Katana cost me $540 Cdn. (and as soon as the snow hit, I switched coverage to my sled and got back $25).

For liability it's $86 Cdn. per year.

As I've posted elsewhere ...

Switzerland ... 40 years old ... clean driving record ... liability about CHF 255 / year (about the same in Candian $) ... full coverage including my bike, luggage and gear = CHF 1050 per year with a CHF 1'000 deductable.

I am 21, with several tickets, and a sports bike...

I had problems even finding a company that would be WILLING to insure me. I sure as hell cant afford full coverage...

but I was finally able to find a company that would insure me and I am paying 200 bucks a year, liability.

I'm 21, pretty clean record and i pay about 1,000 a year full coverage with 1,000 deductible. It not a great rate but it's the best one I could get.
