Finance companies and banks usually require full coverage ( if you're financing it's because you usually don't have the money ), they want to be sure to get paid even if you wreck the bike.

If you don't pay they can repo but repoing a scrap bike is not going to get them their money back.

If you buy your bike and finance it through Suzuki you are not required to carry full coverage insurance. I'm not sure which bikes that this applies to now as it used to be only on the bikes that cost less than $10000. That is a deal that Suzuki offers on new bikes but most people don't know anything about. If you have already signed your deal I doubt you can go back on it but if you havent purchased it yet ask them about that offer.

Airforce03,

You have to shop around and see, most likely your insurance company can qoute, but make sure you ask if they will cover that brand and model. some insurance companies cover only certain makes and model... why? cause they think as high risk purchase... as of allstate they chargin me $640.00 every 6 mnths= $1,280.00 a year don't know bout others.

The best advice to give JUST SHOP AROUND...!!!

GOOD LUCK IN UR ADVENTURES'

Big differences in prices up here, definitly shop around. An hour or two with the yellow pages at hand can save you big bucks.

Some companies aren't interested in motorcycle coverage and their premiums reflect that. I too thought that by going with the same company that insures both my home and cars would give me a good price but that wasn't the case.

Some companies specialize in motorcycles ( check motorcycle mags for their ads) that is where I got the best deal.

Shouldn't be as bad as a gixxer but your still pretty young. As for the MSF, I don't know but you SHOULD take it no matter, it's your life we are talking about. The MSF can only improve your riding skills and that can save your life.

And for the better prices, I suggest you turn 30 as soon as possible. 8)

For most companies the younger you are the higher the premium, but in some cases depends on if in school GPA, track record, etc.... In case at hand older and wiser cheaper the price.

im going to be riding along with driving my normal car. so wont be full time riding. that might help cut some insurance costs. but i mainly want to ride for the warm weather.

sucks to be young when it comes to insurance. too bad all the young kids are all irresponsible and ruin it for the responsible ones. [/quote]

shop around, if you're in the states, look into nationwide. i pay 60$ a month and that's full coverage. comes up to around 720$ a year. And i'm 21. But to insure a bike through them you MUST have a car insured with them. but my car isn't much either. i play 175$ a month for insurance :) ( car is collision only ).

Since I just got a bike (03 GSXR-600) I just found out my insurance price for the year, and it's $396 dollars/year for full coverage (same coverage as my car). It's the same insurance company that I have my car under too. So definately look into the company that your car is insured with. It helps to have a clean driving record too. Oh and I'm 23 so I dunno what factors they apply to age having to do with the cost.
