I did a several things on mine to increase visability at night, 'cause I ride a lot at night. For starters, I added a Kury run-brake-turn controller, which made my rear turn signals glow at half brightness as running lights whenever the bike is running. They also glow full strength as brake lights, but still flash as turn signals. I feel a lot safer, as I am now more than one bulb away from being invisable at night. Rear facing amber lights are illegal, so I added clear lenses and red bulbs (regular ones, not LEDs) for a total cost of about $70. Added clear lenses and amber bulbs up front too, 'cause they look cool

Then I added the Tailblazer, which just snaps in in place of the regular tail ight bulb. It is brighter, being halogen, and it flashes when you put on the brakes. Cost was about $65. The bike really stands out at night when I brake, with the two turn signals glowing red and the center light flashing. I doesn't drive folks nuts though, as the flashing stops after a few seconds.
Next I added LED bolts around the plate, which are wired as running lights. You can't really see them during the day, but you can at night, and every little bit helps. They are mostly for show though, as they are not very bright. Cost was $10.
Lastly, I am going to add two little pods of LEDs on either side of the plate, wired as turn signals. Because the rear turn signals glow as running lights, there is not as much contrast between the on-off of the turn signal, so the LEDs should help them stand out more during the daylight.
