Just had my 2004 for its 500mile service, and tune up,and it still spits and pops on a cold engine. On the highway it is great, but slow speed (20mph and under), the carb spits and the bike jerks. IM not a new rider but this is my first new bike, Is this roughness to be expected with a new bike, or is this the fault of the dealer,or his mechanic? The millage is still only 550. The dealer is 60 miles away, so its rough going back and forth all the time. IM ready to find a good local mechanic, if this wouldnt void my warranty. Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you can get it to a certified mechanic this shouldn't void the warraty but it is not normal and should be repaired under warranty.

The dealer should have the opportunity to repair his mistake and if he doesn't contact Suzuki custuner care.

make sure you give her plenty of time to warm up. I have the same bike with almost the same miles as yourself and on mine if you take off before she's all the way warmed up, she's a real dog. However if it's doing this to you even after you've had it out and about for the day it is definitly worth looking into.

Pretty much all the new Suzuki road bikes do that, mine does too. It has to do with the way they are tuned from the factory for emissions. Drill the caps out that cover the fuel screws for the carbs so you can richen up the pilot circuits, and add a 20 thousands shim under the needle clips, and that will take care of 96% of it.
