Does the 2002 Intruder 1500 LC have an automatic compression release? I've had a couple of times when the bike would not even turn over like it had a real weak battery. I've had the battery & charging system checked and everything appears fine. I was thinking that with an auto compression release maybe it failed to open and the starter was unable to turn the motor over fast enough to start it. I jumped it or let it sit for awhile and everything operates fine for maybe months before it does it again. I'm open to suggestions.

Yes that would make things a little difficult. You should hear a audible click when you push the start button just before the starter engages. Also you might be able to see it working (its above the front cylinder on the right side). If you can get someone to hold the clutch lever.

Intruder Compression Release

Thanks for tinfo. Is this adjustable or just replacable? Can the cable be pulled by someone while you try to start it to assist? It's so seldom but nearly always in a bad place for a non-starting bike. LAst time it did it was as the Arlington National Cemetary as it closed. Very untimely! No problems for about 43 months now.

fyrchief,

Head over to http://www.moccsplace.com and scroll down to "The Garage" and click on the link "Decomps for Dummies". It will walk you through an easy to do adjustment procedure, way easier than the service manual and just as accurate. I performed the adjustment several months ago and everything is working fine.

Not to mention that Mocc has a TON of other information specific to our LC's.

I hope this helps,
Will
