Thanks for the story, doblerj14. That's exactly what tends to ruin my riding experience. One little slip and I'm all paranoid for a week.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Bikes can be fixed and as long as your going to be ok then all thats left is to learn from it. I crashed my 2000 GSXR 750 Supersport at Pocono during a tire test and was out of comisson for a month. I can tell you that Safety Gear should be first on everyones list.

Get well soon.

What tends to ruin my riding experience are other drivers. The paranoia will not die, but I might if it does.

Glad you made it out with just a few scrapes.

If the accident is not officially recorded, then it never becomes a statistic. So, you are not a statistic

Sorry about the sand.

While we're on the subject (sand) does everyone else slip/slide in sand a lot? I know I do. The predominant portion of my area's surface is covered in a fine loam. Some areas are a fine, wind-blown silt. We don;t have mucho sand here in west TN, but there is some.

I feel it more than I see it. Sometimes, I'll turn around and go find the invisible crap, just so I'll know I'm not crazy (well . . .). As a result of my hyper-sensitivity to the existence of sand, I ride in a state of paranoia, which is usually a good thing. But, when it comes to my tires and having confidence in the bike, I see the "sand boogeyman" as my enemy.

My friends seem to get to the edges of their tires on the same roads I'm riding, but they say they don't slip and slide all of the freaking time. What gives?

<I got an M-1 Sportec tire yesterday. After I get that bad boy mounted, I should have supreme confidence in the tires. We'll see how that turns out.>
