I got the same registration on the kawasaki forums... anyway I've also found a katana near me and yea I'm a rookie but I just was wondering if I could get any veteran input on this bike here. I can't tell but it looks like theres some rust on it. It's not the nicest bike but If I can talk him down it will be within my budget. How's the mileage, whats considered a lot of mileage on a bike.

one of those is a katana the other is a gixxer. i don't know much about bikes yet, but i do know that the power and weight of those bikes are completely different. The gixxer is "much faster with hair trigger controls" and not really a beginner bike by any means. the katana is a much more sane choice, but still not a terrific newbie bike. i don't know much about if they are good deals, but a gixxer at that price, i would be weary of the bikes condition. the bike could have been abused. let the experts tell you more in depth.

Jabroni's points are valid. Here's my addition:
The Katana that you have found is very expensive(my '95 750 was bought 2 months ago for $2K and has less miles) and not a great choice for a beginner(but better than a GSX-R). The GSX-R is more reasonably priced, but is a terrible choice for a beginner. The GSX-R is very powerful with light weight. It's great for an experienced rider, but a new rider can easily get "in over their head".

I got my 95 gxs600f Kat last summer for $2000 on ebay...you might want to check there and you do not only need to look in your area if you are a trustworthy person, DAS will shipp bike accross America for anywhere from 50.00 to 1000.00 depending on location, but again I agree the GXSR is too much for a beginner

I agree with the above posts, forget a GSX-R as a first bike. Price seems high to me also, friend got a 99 Katana with 6,000 miles last year in showroom condition for $5,000 can and they're asking $4,000 can for a 93?
