Ok now i have found that none are made for katanas. Cause no body like us, but has anyone here bought for gsxr's and drilled the frame? It doesnt sound good to say DRILL THE FRAME,but if someone can verify that it would not really hurt the structural integrity of frame , than maybe i'll do it. MAYBE

I've seen this same question brought up at least 2 other times. To briefly recap what was said in those other posts, don't drill into the frame because it will compromise it's integrity. Over time the frame could bend or warp and possibly cause stability issues at higher speeds. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me and set you straight.

dont know what year suzuki started this, but gixxers have posts built into the frame so all you do is bolt em right on and you dont have to worry about cutting into the frame or plastics.

I dont think the bolt hole itself is what needs to be worried about its the forces excerted on the frame in the event of using the frame sliders. The kats got some weight behind it and could easily damage the frame in a tip over or low speed spill with frame sliders installed (direct path to transfer the crash energy to the frame as opposed to the plastics and clip-ons supporting the bike in a fall). To prevent this you need to be sure that the bolt used will sheer off prior to the frame bending. As for sliders look on ebay for any sliders that are symetrical, I believe the cbr F4i sliders work well. just my .02

Someone mentioned KatKrew and they have on there a photo essay on how to mount frame sliders to a Kat. I have an 02 Kat 750 and have purchased frame sliders (the CBR 600... F4 ones) as this is what they recommend for the Kat on the KatKrew site.

I notice one slider is longer than the other, so I find it odd they would recommend these as the frame on the Kat is of equal length from the farings on both sides. Also, no need to drill holes in the faring of the Kat (as you need to on the CBR).

There shouldn't be much problem with drilling the frame - it's not a large hole - but I like the idea of making sure the bolt will break before the frame bends... I guess you have to weigh the advantage of a frame slider - saving the faring - versus the possiblity of bending the frame. I would think that in a low speed slide or if the bike tips over, the sliders would save the faring, with no damage to the member. It's a big piece of steel.
