:banghead:

I just cant believe this nightmare!! 2 days ago after returning from a 300 mile trip with a buddy of mine the unthinkable happened. My bike rolled right off its stand.Mind you i purchased my 04' Valusia Limited 4 weeks ago, brand new.
The list of damage is crazy. Both LH turn signals, cluth lever, shift lever, front fender and ofcorse the fuel tank all need to be replaced.

What really pisses me off is within 30sec. of turning my back on the bike my riding season came to an end. Here in northern Vermont snow is inevitable within the next few weeks and the way things are progressing with my Ins. company ill have one last ride i hope.Thats from the repair shop to home.Thens its see you in the spring for my bike.

Nothing left to say other then AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!

man that sucks, whats with bike stands, there are so many accidents due to poor design, surely someone can produce a stand that is both practical and actually works, i must admit my gixer has always been ok but i still worry whenever i out it on the stand as ive seen so many bikes fall

Happened to me too last night.

Same thing happened to me last night, but I was still sitting on it. I slowed it's fall, but still broke a rear tail light. I was able to glue it back together and get on the road. Very tip of clutch handle an one footpeg have road rash, but no chrome or paint damaged. Back on the road today, but have a replacement tail light ($64) on order.

THe Volusia kickstand does not sit forward enough so A LOT of people have had problems ith it collapsing. An easy fix is to use a dremel tool and notch the kickstand a bit. That'll get it to come out farther

This sounds interesting! How/where do you notch it? I have a similar problem on my Savage and I have a dremel tool...

Feels your pain. Have a vol. Heres a tip to help you in the future. The bike has a bad kickstand. Always park in first gear and always turn handle bars to left when you park it. Don't ask how i know but i do lol. I was lucky i was standing there when mine went down I was able to catch it. I was like this cant be happening. Hope you get your settlement quickly and get it back on the road to salvage what riding weather is left for the season.

kickstand

I did one better. I washed my Vol and shined her chrome for over an hour. I got on and cranked her up to enjoy the moment. My son walked up and I cut the bike off and got off to talk to him. I forgot to put the kickstand down when I got off  . At least it landed on top of me and there was little damage to the bike. When the Volusia Owners League site comes back on line check it out. There are quite few posts on the kickstand problem and one of the members sells a mod that easily fixes the it. Good luck.

I did this also, very easy fix.

The stopper is a small square piece of metal welded to the assembly, the kickstand rests against it when it's down. Just use a dremel to cut/grind off a small wedge on the right side. Try taking off maybe an eight of an inch at the bottom and line up your cut with the top right corner. This should allow your kickstand to extend an extra inch to inch and a half and to actually allow the stand to snap forwards when extending it.

Take off just a little at a time and try it out. Tip I parked my bike next to a fence and tied it to the fence to keep it upright while I worked on the stand.

In addition to the above, when you have it in first gear, roll it forward until it won't roll any farther. Now with the kickstand down, it can only roll backward and won't collapse the kickstand.

Did any of you look at th sidestand of an HD, this stand can only move up and down when the bike is tilted?
Any mechanic out there that can make this trick adaptable for other bikes?

Anyone know if this is fixed on the Boulevard C series bikes?

Thanks for the "how-to" tip. I'll have to look at my Savage and see if I can make the same adjustment.

I'm going to keep the new tail light for a spare. The super glue (for plastic, Home Depot) seems to work pretty well. A hundred miles this week and it's still in one piece. If I drop the bike again my replacement tail light will be ready.

Do you think the front and rear are interchangeable on a C50?[/quote]

I have had no trouble, but I am always careful when I park any bike so that it is not going to roll forward. Park in 1st gear rolled forward to engagement and watch surface slope direction. A crash bar, like the Cobra or MCE would have minimized tip over damage too.

Not the same electrics front and rear, front is a two way, always on and/or flashing, rear is flashing only. I also don't think they are the same length.

Don't know if the kickstand problem is fixed for 2005, it seems it has always been around but not on every bike. Might be one of the subcontractors or the occasional "bad batch" of stands.
