O.K., I did a really stupid thing. However, since nobody was looking and there's no damage, it never happened. Right?
I moved the bike out of the garage in preparation for a ride Sat. morning. Started it up and began to put on my leathers, helmut, etc. Then I pressed the remote to lower the garage door when I noticed that the bike was just under the door.
I quickly moved the bike and was congratulating myself and letting go of the bike at the same time. I never noticed that in moving the bike I also moved the kick stand. When I let go of the bike, down it went. I tried to stop it but it was past 45 degrees and it was gone. Fortunately, there wasn't any damage and noboby saw it happen. I also learned that with the proper leverage it's reasonably easy to pick the bike up.
I don't know if there's any wisdom to be gained from this story but I needed to vent.
I wonder? Is there ever a non stupid reason why a bike goes down?

umm, a non stupid reason... well, for the biker anyways, would be that they get hit by a cage...

sometimes that is completely unaviodable, and has nothing to do with biker stupidity...

as for cager stupidity... well, that's a different story all together.

I laid mine down twice,,, first time seeing how slow I could make a tight turn in the slowest possible fashion with out using my legs to duck walk it,, second time was when a Ford F-350 Duallie ran me off the road in a curve,, so yea there can be stupid maneuvers that a biker does,, and there are the stupid things cagers do.

There is always wisdom to be gained from everything, but, you never learn from most experiences. However, you most always learn from bad experiences.

Three things learned here.
1. Don't park your bike or other object under the garage door.(simple lesson for all things bike and non-bike).
2. Make sure the side stand is down before letting go of the bike.
3. NOBODY would have known about it if you did't post it here!

Anyway, we all have those "I could have kicked myself for that" experiences.
