Pulled out my 77 gs750 ,after long sit, any way the petcock only shows reserve, on, prime- which is correct position for off, cant remember, have 1 carb bowl overflows, leaks now

There is a vacuum operated shutoff that is a part of the petcock assembly.
Unless that has failed, that should shut off the fuel flow regardless of what position the "selector" is in.

Thanks I will re check tomorrow it appears that in the *On position maybe the vacumn works, but in reserve or prime it does not , im getting the 2nd carb leak,so i guess that float is stuck, buf it wasnt leaking until i left it on reserve then primer ,weird

ONLY the PRime setting should defeat the vacuum shutoff.
That is what the prime setting is FOR.
