I've been doing some cheap mods. Removed the emblems from the tank and side covers, removed all the stickers. I was wondering if anyone has had their rear seat off their M50, and if so how do you think it looks. I'm getting mixed reviews. I think it looks pretty clean (the way the fender is so long), but the wife isn't so sure (don't worry she's got her own bike.) Did you just put the seat bolts back in the holes?

I took the rear seat off and like the look. I just put the original bolts back in the holes. It would be nice if Suzuki offered some sort of cap for the rearmost bolt, but I have gotten used to the look. I certainly prefer the single to the double.

Here's a digitally altered pic of my bike. Not perfect, but you get the idea of what it would like without the seat....

hey what size is that bolt...don't seem to have it in my hex set. :?: Oh and I was thinking once I remove the seat, I'll paint the bolt with a gloss black paint and it'll blend in nicer.

I took my rear seat off. I like the look but my son thinks I need to find a way to take the bolt out and fix the fender. ( he's 15 and 170 and doesn't ride on the back anymore). My boss( Harley guy) told me to try to find a chrome bolt to put in. Actually he said that I am limiting my options by removing the back seat!! lol. I really like the single look.

By the way. In your tool kit there is a hex wrench that fits all of the seat bolts.

I saw somewhere,, and it might have been bike week where a guy had put a little single running light where that bolt was which gave it a sorta custom look to it. Since there was a hole the wire ran right down underneath it.

You could always buy one of those plastic things that you push into the holes of cars like the bumper covers. You know the things with the one way plastic tabs that once you pull it out the tear off. Then that way you could paint it to match the bike.

But the light was one of those 1/2" x 2" long lights. I think he had a red bike and it was red also,,little LED job I think.

I removed the rear seat when I first got the bike. I think it looks awesome ... kinda chopperesc! Thus, I am going to use some quick-release bolts for the sissybar and rear seat when not in use (which is quite frequently).

Hey v0lusia,,, I checked out that site,,pretty cool,,, I just ordered one of those silver/pearl key knobs,,, I am going to try that versus having a key fob flop around and just having the plain key in the ignition. Thanks for that site!!!!

So is a key knob something you attach to the end of the key that covers up the ignition when the key is inserted? Are you supposed to leave it inserted all the time? I'm not sure I understand the point.

Axel,,, click on the web sites link v0lusia posted earlier. They have an instruction place you can click on. Basically it becomes the top part of the key that you normally grab on to and turn. Instead of a big Suzuki plastic head you will get a custom button cover that cover up the entire lock barrel assembly.
There are alot of pics that show you what they look like. I think they are a good idea.

Hope that explains it a little better!!!! :)
