Hi there everyone im new to the forums..so be nice :D

i have a marauder 800 and i love it. its restricted atm as im 18 and only passed my full test a couple of months back, but im already looking at improving the performance once the restrictor is finally removed.

i discovered today that the marauder cannot be fitted with a functioning hypercharger because of the dual carbs. which is a real downer but reading i find that the marauder engine is the same as the intruder and the volusia (which can be hypercharged because it has a single carb).

so my question is- because the engines are the same would it be possible to fit a volusias single carb onto a marauder and so allow a hypercharger to be fitted? if its a no please could i have an explaination why as im trying to learn about the internals of my bike.

also whether i can or cannot do the above what other performance parts can i add and what can i expect to gain from it

thanks for your time guys

tim

Although the basic engine is the same, a lot of parts would have to be exchanged in order to get it to a one carb setup. Would be very expensive and time consuming for not a lot more power.

A hypercharger is not a turbocharger it's just a less restricted air filter and although they do add visually to the bike the power gains are modest. You could probably get 90% of the results with aftermarket air filters that'll increase air flow and rejetting the carbs.

Once unrestricted you'll have more than enough power to ride a very enjoyable bike. If you really want more power then save your money and trade up to a bigger/faster bike.

You can swap the single carb setup from a volusia only if you also swap the cylinder heads. But you don't want to do that, as the dual carb setup makes more power than the volusia's single carb setup.

To make more power out of the Marauder, first open up the exhaust with a better-flowing aftermarket system, then open up the intake with low-restriction filters and re-jet the carbs. You can also change out the sprocket on the chain drive for more low-end grunt.

FWIW...I've added a Vance&Hines exhaust, K&N's and a Stage 2 rejet on the carbs on my '03 and it pulls HARD over my brothers '05 Screamin Eagle equipped Sportster 883.

some advice

You might just want to quit there. I love my Marauder 800, but beyond what you have done , you may be getting all you need to get out of it. It is only 800 cc. If you want more punch, trade up. The marauder is a beefy little punk, love the acceleration and speed. You sound like you have done well with it. Enjoy your work.:plus1:
