I just purchased a 97 Marauder 800, but the owner didn't have a manual. I have searched the web to find one, and have stuck out. Does anyone have one to sell, or - if the posting of manuals goes through it would sure help.
Question: Would the Intruder manual work for the Marauder?

You can certainly buy a Haines or Clymer and have all you'd need for any maintentance issues. As for general motorcycle info, just ask.

jdwetzig, here is a link to where you can download the manual in PDF format and it's broken down into eight sections. http://www.pdfcontrol.co.uk/ The pictures are grainy, but still very useful, and the text is just fine.

Oops. My mistake. You need the owners manual. I was thinking repair manual. But still, the link may still be useful to you.

Hey, yeah caveman's right, they haven't changed too much on the marauders, save for some appearance modifications from 97-00. The intruder manual might work ok for you for the motor, but they dont share too much in common other than that. Im actually waiting right now on the delivery of the 04' rauder, 805cc. Caveman, you were talking about common mods, do you know how if its tough to raise the bars, with a longer triple tree? also, if you're intending still to scan the manual, that would be super, as to uploading it, im not sure how, but could definately benefit from it, as i have the 98 manual now, and i am sure that the 03 might bear more reference.

JFKRAUDER, Congrats on getting a new Marauder! Suzuki made a few nice changes to the looks, such as bullet style turn signals and painted side covers for the '04 model. For anyone that rides or plans to own a Marauder, check out this site http://forums.delphiforums.com/mig/start/ . I raised mt bars 3/4 " by ordering a set of spacers from http://home.wyan.org/~jrhdlh/ just click on the "Products" link and go from there. I believe I paid $15.00 including shipping. He also has a screw kit for the rauder's carbs if you ever decide to put in a stage one or two jet kit. The stock carb screws are very soft and tend to strip on removal. If you do much highway or interstate riding, you may want to change the stock 15 tooth front sprocket to a 16 or 17 to lower the r.p.m.'s. It's a cheap and quick modification that makes a world of difference.

Thanks caveman, with the weather warming up, and the virago stuck in the basement until the yard stops being a swamp, i can't wait for the new bike! Ive done riding on a frieds 98 marauder, and loved the bike, beats both the '82 virago 750 and the '86 virago 920 both in styling, feel and comfort, and man is the marauder light too!
I think i might look into some spacers to raise the bars, have to see. I've also seen a lot of people pull off the pair valve between the cylinders. This might seem like a dumb question, i have heard of people putting on a 16 or 17 tooth sprocket, but how, would that lower the rpm you want, when it is bigger, as far as i know the smaller the sprocket the less the engine speed, for example think of a bicycle, you go to the small sprockets, (high gears) and your legs do less rpm... ? so a 17 tooth spocket will actually make the engine work at a lower rpm in 5th, cruising, than a 15 tooth?? im mystified...

thanks a lot, can;t wait to get the new bike in, oh and plus the just painted side covers look good i think, better than chromed plastic trying to pass itself off as steel.

The larger front sprocket gives it taller gears. When stock, I was looking for a sixth gear (which it doesn't have) at about 65 m.p.h. Now, just easy riding I don't hit fifth gear till about 65. I can cruise on the interstate at 75 without straining the engine at all. If you don't plan to travel at interstate speeds much, you may like a 16 tooth better. They cost about $18.00 and takes 30-45 minutes to do. By the way, I've ridden Virago's....Nice bikes.

JFK, don't forget that changing size has an opposite effect from front to rear. On your bike, you were switching the rear sprocket, but now you're talking about changing the front.
