A friend's 2000 murader (sp?) is in need of a clutch adjustment. the friction point is almost all the way out on the lever release.

normally I would adjust the clutch rod, throw out, or whatever it is called on whatever bike, but there is no inspection window as on my old brits nor is there a locknut and screw as in the old hondas. just the cable adjust at the lever and the arm at the tranny case.

of course he does not have a manual. any help?

Thanks

My LC1500 was exactly the same way. On top of the lever pivot is there a wheel numbered 1 to 4?

If there is, push OUT on the lever, away from the handlebar, and rotate the wheel to the number 3 or 4 position. (1 moves the point furthest out, 4 is the furthest in, on mine the default was position 2.) Keep in mind there are no in-between settings, just those four, so make sure the wheel is fully in position or the pin will not seat properly.

Hope this helps,

I know the newer Marauders have hydraulic clutches but his post states "cable" so I figured it has a cable. Not sure if the cable style adjust the same way, but if there is a numbered dial then it would.

yes it is cable. unless............

there is a cable from the grip to the case.

Adjusting at the lever only controls slack in the cable, not the adjustment of the clutch mechanism itself.

All the other bikes I have worked on have a way to adjust play between the throwout bearing and the clutch push rod.

Hmmmm???

sorry guys,

thanks for the help, but all you are doing is adjusting the cable, not the clutch.

I will go find a manual somewhere. You all might want to do the same, because sooner or later, the engagement point will be all the way out at the end of the lever and then a very short time before the clutch starts slipping followed by the smell of burning money as you buy new plates.
