I'm trying to decide between the c50 and s50. I see that one is fuel-injected while the other has the infamous twin-swirl combustion chamber that is also supposed to work really well.

I'm curious if there is much if any difference in both the mileage and power performance between these two bikes.

Thanks,
Tim

I believe that it is more a matter of style. The C50 has lots more "dresser" accessories available, while the S50 leans toward chopper styling with nothing extra hung on to interfere with the naked lines. The S50 is nearly 100lbs lighter, so that has to help a tad, in terms of power. My preference leans toward the S50, as I keep the 2005 model in Maryland, while the VS800 Intruder stays in Florida. I have not found a need to hang on saddle bags, but I do carry the bungie net, so I can pick up a couple groceries or other items and lash same to the sissy bar, using the bungies. Works for me, but others find a need for more luggage space. I had dresser Harleys in the past and that is what the C50 looks like to me. The C50 is what I call a fat bike, with the heavy looking front tire and fender. When it comes right down to it, the rider has to decide what he likes and these days, what image he wishes to portray.
I am perfectly happy with the two light weight 800cc bikes, but in my dreams, I ride a "Road Warrior", all black with no chrome and a terrible quantity of horsepower that I would probably never use!! How important is the dream, when weighed against the reality?

The S50 is a MUCH faster bike than the C50, which both makes less power and is a lot heavier. But the C50 rides better on the highway. But the S50 has about twice the lean angle so it is a lot more fun in the twisties. But the C50 is more comfortable. But the S50 is lighter and more agile. But the C50 holds it value better. But the S50 is easier to handle if you have short legs. But the C50...

Just pick the one you like the looks of best: the slim "Sporty" S50, or the fat, "Custom' C50. You really can't choose wrong: Both are excellent bikes, and either one is a good pic for a reliable, good looking, fun mid-sized cruiser.
