Not that type of ride :p
I was on my way back home from the dealer from picking up my riding pants.
It started drizzlling.
I could hear the pitter patter on the helmet, water on the visor, and the roads were getting wet.
I try to avoid the middle oil track in my lane, and slowly made my way back home.
All in all, it wasn't that bad :D
Wished it rained harder
Maybe next time

yea, i literally rode my bike all the way through the winter and spring. (i think i might have rode my car for one week in those 6-7 months becuase I was getting a tire)

so i had my share of rainy / cold days. it's not really too bad... i think the worse thing is the wind, like in the middle of a storm, if the wind gets up there, and the roads are wet... that is scary.

you find yourself leaning the bike pretty hard just to keep going in a straight line... that sucks!

I had my first real rain experience this week too. I met a friend for a ride and lunch. We got rained on a little going to lunch, but it stopped while we were eating. After lunch, we decided to ride a little more since it looked like it had cleared up. Wrong! After being back on the road for about 5 minutes, the sky opened up. Did I have proper rain gear? Heck no! So, I just got another shower. I was soaked from neck to toe. But, I did get to experience riding in the rain.

Yeah, I was wishing I had my full face with me that day. The rain felt like bees stinging me over and over. That sucked.

That and the water running down my jacket was pooling in the seat. Ever pass a really, really, really wet.....nevermind, you get the idea. :-?

Fortunately for me, my gear is waterproof, so I was good to go.
I rode the bike to work this evening, daring it to rain, and it did a little.
People were looking at me, as if Im crazy, but thats ok.
I still wish that it rained a little more, so I can test out how my gear
handles the rain.
By that Im mean my jacket has a low collar, so every now and then,
when I turned my head, water dripped on the back of my neck.
But when I got to work, I was dry (except my boots), so rain riding
wasn't so bad after all.
But I still need to be on hightened alert when its wet.

Good riding gear and riding smooth will keep you on 2 wheels. In the really wet conditions trouble can spring up in the blink of an eye. You need to be very purposeful with all your inputs into the motorcycle when it is wet out and choose your lines wisely.

My first real riding experience turned into my first rain ride too! Was a gorgeous clear sunny day, just putting around town. visiting everyone i could think of to show my new toy. So i head about 30miles out to the boonies where my buddy leaves and i can see this huge black cloud hovering in.
I was doing probably 80km/hr when i can actually seen this wall of rain coming up the road! I slow to bout 12km/hr and tense up waiting for it. Finally it hits. Rain drops the size of dollars (coins). So i get over the overpass and theirs a bloody train! So people are honking and waving at my misfortune. So i Cruise all tucked up so as to avoid as much water as possible for about 15 mins. I arrive at my buddies house, its broken open so sunny as possible! roll the bike right into his garage and wipe her down.
He's still laughing as i start steaming in the sun!
needless to say, it was funny that it wasnt too cold, but definately not my piece of pie~ Chase

TriniO I really suggest you learn how your bike is going to react or slide if a wheel locks up in the wet. And really try to get more seat time in the wet cause if you don't it could kill you. Braking in the wet, stopping distances and turning are very different and more hazzards in the wet. Hell even engine brake when down shifting could lock up the rear wheel causing a slide.

And since there's no way to not ride in the rain or one wet roads in Florida I wish they had a special wet weather part to MSF with one of those bikes with outrigger wheels so they can slide but not fall over.

Ride on my brotha!!

I have to agree with you.
I plan on using the bike for commuting, and down here, its a guarantee, that rain
plays a factor on road conditions most of the time.
In a way, my ride yesterday was good in that it didn't rain too hard, but it was
just enough for me, to experience it.
Yes more seat time is needed.
But now that I've done it, next time, I wouldn't be as afraid to do it,
when the roads are wet.

I ride in the wet a lot, best advice I ever got was to let the bike only do one thing at a time, so accelerate, brake or lean over as a single action, don't mix them too much.
Keep everything gentle.

You get used to wet riding fast and you will be surprised how far over you can get!

Musta been that kind of weekend all over. I went on a 100 mile ride on Saturday. It was a day of firsts:

It was husband's first real ride, out of the neighborhood
It was my first long ride with a passenger (I had my 14 year old son on back)
It was my son's first long ride
It was our first real ride together
It was our first group ride (we picked up a friend to ride with us)
And it rained...

We had gone over 80 miles and we were on the last leg home when it started raining. We rode for a little bit but then pulled over, along with quite a few other riders, to wait it out. It was kinda fun, even. It was a good experience for me and for my husband.

As a matter of fact, it was such a good experience, we repeated it on Sunday. Only this time, I didn't have my son, but our friend had his girlfriend on back...and this time, it rained even harder...

We didn't MEAN to repeat the experience, but we got caught again...

All in all though, it was a great riding weekend. We put in 210 miles this weekend and hubby is enjoying the heck out of my Savage while I'm loving my new Intruder.
