You need a wiring diagram as something is not wired up properly...would the insurance pay for an auto eletrician to check it out?

Good luck and sorry for your experience with the low lifes around.

There is a pretty comprehensive service manual available for this bike online in PDF format. It's just a google search away! I have a copy of it downloaded to my phone just in case.

http://www.sloneservices.com/SilverBack/Other-Stuff/V-StarShopManual99-07.pdf (mods feel free to delete if this link isn't acceptable)

It may be of assistance in this case, but you may be better off picking up the Clymer or Haynes manual, which might be more detailed. I hope this helps.

This is so sad.
I hope you took the time to report the vandalism to the Police.

If you have insurance, you should USE IT.

If not, I'm afraid that you will need professional help.
If the ignition switch assembly was damaged, it may have had a security feature in it that is also damaged.
