I am going to visit a friend in NE area of Phoenix, near Scottsdale, in a couple weeks and have rented a Harley Vrod for one of the days (yes i cleared it with my M ahead of time, it was very understanding). :)

Anyway, i pickup the bike in the afternoon on Sunday and have to return it Monday by 5:30. I'm thinking i'll stick close to home Sunday evening to get used to the bike etc, but I plan to be up early Monday and want to get as much riding in as possible before I come back to my snow filled state.

Anybody have any suggestions for fairly short day trip in that area? Any roads that are "must ride"?

Thanks much!

Tortilla flats is a really nice day ride. It's about 60 miles each way. It's a little town of about 8 people, but there's a really great restaurant there that has some of the best burgers around. It also has money from all over the world that people have put on the walls with messages. There's no phone service and the road up there is really twisty and takes you by some beautiful scenery. There's a post office, ice cream store and gift shop. It's a very popular day ride with most of the local bikers..
