I've got about 800kms on the new k5 gix 1000 and I've experienced some trouble. On a couple of ocasions while approaching a stop, the bike cut out while shifting from 2nd to 1st. I've no clue as to why and was wondering if anything like this has happened to anyone else, or if someone has any answers as to the cause.

I've also experienced a grinding sound when slowly releasing the clutch off starts.

Any suggestions or help appreciated

Ya I'm bringing to to the dealership tomorrow. Spoke with the mechanic there today who said it sounded like the idle may be set a little low, but it doesn't seem like it, when the bike is indeed at idle.

They dying part does sound like a low idle. Check you manual to see what it is supposed to be at and then check to see what its actually at.

The grinding sound while releasing the clutch, can't help ya on that one.

I set the idle at about 1200rpms, and had no trouble since. As for the grinding sound, its still happening. It seem to happen a little more at higher running temps. and only from starts, when the clutch is at its endpoint of engagement.

I brought it to the dealer yesterday. They took it for a run, doing alot of stops and starts and they said they never heard a thing. WTF. I never left the parking lot of the place 15-20mins and it happened again. The only way I can explain the sound, is that its somewhat like grinding the gears in car, though not to that extent.

the grinding sound is from the clutch not being adjusted properly. suzuki revised their original specs, and some dealers may not know. originally, suzuki said to back off the bolt 1/4 turn, but then had a bunch of bikes come back with shot clutches, so they changed it to 1/2 turn.

in case you don't know where it is, on the left side of the bike, there is a piece of rubber covering the adjuster (just follow your clutch cable). loosen the locknut, turn the hex bolt until you feel some resistance, then back it off 1/2 turn and the reset the locknut. you should be okay then.

Thanks for the tip. Thats the first I've heard of the revision from 1/4 to 1/2. I've always assumed that the mechanic at the dealership was backing it off 1/2 turn. I bet the SOB only turned it back 1/4. I was to the point of, **** it, i'll burn the **** out of it and then bring it back. But I'll adjust it myself tomorrow. Thanks again
