Has anyone taken one for a test or purchased one? The magazine write ups are all real positive but then they do need to keep the manufacturers happy too.
I checked them out at the dealer and they look pretty awesome compared to the previous models.
1/2" shorter tank, 1" narrower tank, fairings 2" narrower, inverted forks, improved brakes and on and on.
Only problem is my wife was with me at the dealer  , she wants one now! Won't settle for anything else. She won't settle for a GS or another Katana now.

When you get a few weeks on it let me know if you find any"issues"(Suzukis never have problems). That is if you don't mind? Seems I'm destined to buy one this summer for my other half.

gsxr600 04

Recently purchased new gsxr600 04.
Bike is great, rides great.
I love it. Only one issue.....

When I start it cold, (as in it hasnt been ridden in a while)
The engine makes a loud tapping sound.
This sound eventually goes away once the engine is hot.
Is this normal? Is anyone else experiencing this.

Tell that to Bandit 1200 owners . . .

Hey Nut!
They are "issues" or "challenges" not problems.

i'd like to know too. i'm lookin for one. not sure if i want a brand new one for my 1st bike. i've grown up on 2-wheels, but never ridden a sport-bike. has to be a suzuki, used to ride MX on a factory support team, never own another brand.

That was one isolated issue. It got blown waaaay out of proportion. Watch the serial numbers and you're fine. Otherwise, the ol' GSX motors are bulletproof.

well, i went to the local dealer today. for the bike, with helmet and jacket, it was gonna be $93xx out the door. with my $3000 down payment, payments would be $125/month. time to go look for a used one. i just found a 2001 with 10k miles for $4800. comes with jacket, 2 helmets, and brand new tires. the miles kinda worry me though.

Here's my 04, picked it up Sat. Rode it for alittle bit since I don't have a tag for it yet. LOVE IT, have to ride everyday, even if its just down the street. Also my first street bike and didn't take long to get the feel for it. Love the looks too. I was also lookin at an 04 R6 as well. Suzuki was alittle bit cheaper. I'm gonna have to ride my neighbors b/f's R6 to compare.

Great bike.

Gotta get rid of the damn mud flap though, geez that thing is huge.

I recently purchased a 02 gsx-r600, very happy with no complaints on my end. got it with 3k mile on it. First bike for me, and I know I know after getting my bike and then looking for a forum to talk to people with and reading all your comments about noobs not to get a gixxer for a first bike. I can't complain, I would not return it for the world.

Being 20 I don't have alot of money to through around, so I figured, get a cheaper smaller bike to learn on and hate for the next 4-5 yrs to pay off, or get a gixxer 600 that is harder to learn on but will LOVE for the next 4-5 yrs. I got comfortable wit it right away, No professional here but I would tell anyone becafeful with what you get but get what makes you happy. Nothing worse than to buy something for 3-6K and not like what you have for the next 4-5 yrs.

Ride happy and ride safe. Its not you to worry about but the other drivers on the 4 wheels.

i picked up my 04 gsxr 600 3 weeks ago, i've got over 900 miles on it so far with no problems. i cant wait to open it up a little more, now that its pretty much broken in. i made a fender eliminator out of some sheet metal i picked up for $4 at the local hardware store, took me about 45 minutes to make, and looks way better. i'll try to post some pics of it soon.

I dont mean to be mean.... but I hope to god that U have SOME riding expierance, @ least a year...... the ol saying for buying a bike especially hopds true... "dont buy something that U can afford putting down... cause its gonna happen..."
for new plastics on o 04... is about 1500........ think of that....
and I hope yur @ least 24.. so U have a slight deal on insurance.... cause if yur 20 or younger.... yur stuck with about 250+ a month.....
