New 2004 Intruder VS 800 won't start .... help!

I bought it two weeks ago. It ran fine the day I got it. The next day it wouldn't start. It was like pulling the cord on a lawn mower again, and again, and again. I tried it about 15 or 20 times, then the battery went dead.

The salesman came to my house and charged the battery back up and the bike ran fine (when it's running, it's a sweet bike). Then it sat in the garage for a few days and I tried starting it tonight. Once again, it won't turn over.

I've tried it with the choke, without the choke, and with the choke partially out. I've tried adding new gas. I just don't understand it. It's not cold here (67 degrees).

An hour later ... it started. I think it will be okay. Maybe I just need to ride it. I've only got 50 miles on it.

Intruders are cold-blooded beasts, so use the choke. Pull the choke all the way out, then hit the starter. Push the choke in a little at a time until you find the point where the bike starts OK.
The choke may be out of adjustment. Ride the bike some more, and when you bring it in for the 600 mile service have the choke adjustment checked.
