Greetings from the Great White North!!
Been sitting on the fence doing a lot of reading and some serious reflections on many of the postings.
On May 16/04, I completed and "passed" the MSC. Talk about an accomplishment for me. The course was most informative and it was also the first time I was able to actually drive a motorcycle. I have nothing but kudo's and high praises for this course. In fact, I think it should be mandatory for all drivers.
On Thursday, May27/04, I took delivery of a 2004 Suzuki Intruder VL800SE in the pouring rain. My hubby had taken me shopping the week before and I kept going back to that Volusia cause it was comfy, fit me, and I felt great on it. Unbeknowst to me, he ordered it and in my favorite color too, Black. After arriving home and 3 hours later, the rain was still falling, my hubby drove me and my new bike to the local high school parking lot where I proceeded to put 25 miles on the odometer in that pouring rain. I had to get a little familiar with this new "beast" and the rain just wasn't letting up.
The next day, the passenger seat and backrest were removed and talk about a sexy looking machine. I washed, waxed and shined my new ride. Hubby on his R* and I on the Volusia and off we went around the local streets.
I've since gone on to the local highway here and into the city. Talk about a lot of stop and go when you get into the city. A little sloppy on the shifting but am getting better at it with each time I go out. My boss at work who is a retired police officer, has attended and investigated a lot of motorcycle accidents and tragedies. His advice to me was to ride as though everyone is out to get me. I am amazed at just how much more attention I am paying to what goes on around me since taking up this hobby and hope that it provides me with much joy, pleasure and wonderful memories. This forum has provided me with a lot of food for thought, answers to some questions and most of all some pretty good advice.
Stay safe everyone and yes, I now eat, sleep and dream to ride.
