Hey guys and gals,
I just bought my C50T last Thursday and today got caught in a light drizzle. Needless to say I HAD to rush home can give it a good cleaning. While cleaning, I felt a rough spot under one of the chrome covers (see pics) I looked under the bike and damn if the chrome is all pitted or bubbling/cracking.

Does anyone else have this issue and if not, do you think it is covered under warranty???

Thanks for any advance.
MLC
PS I know it is not a "show" bike but don't think it should look that rough. :-(

Sorry to say, but mine has the same thing going on, I think its a case of Suzuki cheaping out with the polishing of the casting, its not a visible area so why go to the bother of smoothing it out?? I was a little disapointed with it also, but what are you gonna do  , Just ride it and enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine :)

Hmmm. Gotta check that out.

If it's there, I will pitch the fit with the dealer.

I had factory damage on the case guards I put on. Ther replaced them for me.

Well I called the DEalership, they say that I will need to bring it in. Gotta go in for the 600 Mile Service next Thursday so will let them look at it then.

I did call the Suzuki main number and talked to Customer support, they said if it is "cosmetic" it does not fall under the warrenty.

 I will keep a smile on my face under after the dealer looks at it.

I can't buy that. If it's cosmetic, like, oh I don't know, paint for example, it is still supposed to be in good condition on a brand new bike. Suppose the paint on your tank were to suddenly start to flake off after ten miles, I'm sure they would claim that it's just cosmetic.

But then again, Suzuki like all manufacturers has a vested interest in getting all warrantee claims as close to zero as possible. Warrantee fixes come right off the bottom line.

Bottom line, there is the manufacturer's warrantee, and then there is an "implied warrantee" on all goods sold. How far you want to take it is entirely up to you, it may very well be not worth the trouble to pursue it to the farthest extent possible.

Check put your states lemon laws, i know there was a big deal here about paint peeling. Just make a big stink if they try to brush you off. Suzuki is trying to get this new badging off the ground. they dont need any bads words about them all over the press.

Than again they may just fix it and everbody is happy

This is the perfect opportunity to make it right. Everyone check for the same defect. Everyone complain to Suzuki. The more complaints they get, they may issue a recall.

If that doesn't work, we complain to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Protection, etc... These people do make a difference. Most major companies do not like complaints going to these orgs. These claims can lead to class actions suits. Bad Mojo for major corps.

Best of all, it doesn't cost anthing but a letter and a stamp.

True, True! I am a positive person so I will give them a chance to correct the issue. If not, I can be the biggest pain in the ***!

Heck, I fought with an insurance company for over 2.5 years on a $300 bill. They made it disappear ... so I would too  So yeap, I can be a royal pain to them if need be.

Yeah, I just got done duking it out with a finance company over a lease that was turned it. I was charged for $700 worth of excessive damage over and above normal wear and tear. The thing was, they never let us know they were charging us and when they did they about 15 photos on a regular letter size sheet of paper. They were in black and white. Couldn't make out anything.

They contacted us about 6 months after we turned in the vehicle. I said scratch and refused to pay. We went back and forth for about 3 months.

We contacted our local Consumer Protection office with all the info. 2 days later, the finance company wanted to negotiate. I negotiated by telling them I wasn't paying. I didn't pay.

My dealer has been more than happy to work with me,, I think if you point out that you are planning on bringing it in for service, parts, and accessories then if they are a good dealer they will fix it for you. They can just order the part and say it was a defect on the bike already when they opened the crate.

But I don't have the problem. It doesn't sound to me like it's that widespread.

Any Updates on this???

Hey guys, any more word on this, as I stated I thought mine was just a shoddy bit of finish work, i.e. not cleaning up the visible parts. So is it a defect or not :?:

sorry, forgot to revisit this. I went to the dealer, and basically was told that it was the way it was finished. They would order me the new cover and install at no charge, however they would not guarentee that the replacement would be any better. I suggested taking one of a showroom model, so we looked and when we looked at over 7 different bikes/models of suzuki, they ALL had some form or fashion of this issue.
Oh well, it is documented on my file so if the chrome come off within the year, I will demand a new one!

Yeah, I checked into this, too.

Turns out my stealer had the same with all their bikes on the floor.

It is not actually pitting or bubbling. It is an unfinished area of the case. The metal is not smoothed out in the finishing process which give it that bublbling and pitting look.

However, I like you, have had it noted with the stealer and if it worsens, they will replace it.

Good,, Accurate,, descriptions of the problem and VERY precise documentation is what you need when disputing Warranty or Lemon Law claims. Make sure you have dates with times when you spoke with someone either in person or on the phone,, keep all documentation of when you took it in,, even if there was no repair made have them print out something that states the reason that the bike was brought in there. ALWAYS get their exact names (first and last),, if there is something to sign have them sign their name and print their name on their on company letterhead (repair bill) and date it.

I have had to do this with several cars I have had warranty issues with,, upon all that accurate documentation,,, they usually will buckle to you because they alot of times are not expecting someone to have their act together and have all the facts. Good job getting the stuff documented!!!! Good Luck!!!!!
