Hi everybody
My name is Jeff and i just registered today.
I just purchased a 2000 VL 1500 and am glad to be on the road agian. My question is after I bought the bike I purchased a set of Vance and Hines longshots for it. Will I have any trouble with the fuel injection or not? I've heard several things from needing a Dyno Jet control to Don't worry it will be fine. So I'm looking for some advice by somone that has been down this road already.
Thanks
Jeff

:welcomes: Jeff. I'm no expert on that stuff, but I would suggest you contact Vance and Hines directly. They should be able to tell you exactly what needs to be done to make thier parts work on your application.

Welcome aboard Jeff. We're not ignoring you...it just the day after Christmas. I'd like to help you but can't. No experience with IF bike engines or the VL1500. However, I 'm certain a VL1500/C90 rider will chime-un soon.

First off; I absolutely doubt you will need to do ANY modifications to the bike at all when you add an exhaust.

Secondly; I highly doubt you will need to have the bike jetted.

Third; I think if anything you could have the engine re-mapped by the dealer. Usually there are presets made from [exhaust] manufacturers for optimal air/fuel mixture.

Lastly; if you have the cash, I would recommend both because you will most definately get your bang for the buck. If you choose to do neither I doubt anything "bad" will happen with the bike.

P.S. I bought a Yoshimura TRS exhaust for my 04 GSXR 600 and didn't change anything with the engine for 3 months. I later decided to have a dealer remap [power commander] and the difference was phenominal. It isn't bad to not re-map or jet usually, but if you do both in conjunction with each other it is best.
