hey all!

i just picked up 04 gsxr600 this pass friday and am totally stoked! i'm the black sheep of a family of harley riders :D i was a little hesitant to get gixxer as my first bike cause all of you negative nacy's out there but i'm glad i made the decision i did. i made it passed my break in period in about three days and i'm waiting to get it into the shop for the tune up so i can really open her up

would there be any benefit from putting a duel exhaust on this thing?

Most exhausts for that bike are 4-into-1. They flow better than stock but are louder. Once you have been riding for awhile longer, you can put on a full system (still single exhaust) and get the FI remapped. I recommend you don't mess with it till you've had the bike a bit longer in case you dump it etc... it would really suck to scrape up a brand new exhaust system.

You're a new rider on a GSXR600 who can't wait to 'open her up' after only three days experience. Say "Hi" to Jesus for me when you see him. :?

When I was a new rider, we all started out on 80~100cc bikes. The sheer power of a 175 really blew our minds. I've never owned a standard motorcycle bigger than a 500cc in the 37+ years I've been riding. My current bike is a 650, but it's a scooter. I'm not saying I wouldn't like to have a bigger bike. If I hadn't gotten the Burgman, my second choice was a Yamaha FJR1300. The point is, the big scooter will do practically everything (and everything more practically) that the super-sport tourer will do, and won't hurt me as bad if I stumble (not that I spend much time thinking about that).

I've crashed - lots of times, and at speeds well over the limit, but I've never had a bad day on a motorcycle (or scooter).

If you manage to live for three years, come see me and we'll ride some twisties. I guarantee that I'll leave you wondering how I got away.

The young ones still think it's about the bike, don't they?

Yeah, that bike's gonna look great once you lay it down... It's also gonna look great when you're flying by cagers on the freeway *if* you're an irresponsible rider... It's gonna look great in the impound lot *if* the cops catch you for wreckless riding...

Be responsible on that thing... You're a new rider, so know your limitations and don't let the power under your legs interfere with your brain when it's screaming at you to "Slow down!..."

Please be safe!

I also got a GSX-r600 for my first bike a week ago. I have put on it just over 300 km/h but I am yet to go over 7000rpm. I'm taking it easy and enjoying the ride. One bad mistake can ruin the whole experience, why chance it. I have no plans to mod mine, It's much faster than I can handle. Take your time and enjoy your new toy.

i'm still alive :D man these things are fast, i finally got it out of the shop and open'd er up  you totally nailed me on the head with being an "irresponsible" rider. nothing more i enjoy than going 145mph down the interstate and still having power in the throttle :) j/k but seriously, i wish i got the 1000. im still a little cat with the corners but i'm warming up. i can't wait to take it to a track so i don't have to worry bout a drunken cager around the blind corners.

maybe a busa with NOS would be cool
