I am in the middle of a fork seal replacement and decided to replace the front tire whilest I had it off the bike.I had removed the rotor to clean off all the nasty fork oil and disintegrated brake pad that the leaking seal had caused. OOPS!

If you take the wheel in to the shop to have them mount & balance it, don't take the brake rotor off first. They cannot balance it w/o the rotor attached. Cost me an extra trip (20mi) & a couple of extra hours of my time.[/b]

Great Tip.
I assume it also applies to getting new rotors as well.

I stood in the shop and watched as the tech balanced my rim this morning. The balancing machine actually grabs the wheel by the rotor, so I assume that was the reason they couldn't do it yesterday. But I bet it's still a good idea to get it checked if you change out the rotor.

BTW my ride is back together after the fork seal job and it seems to ride great so far. I guess I did it right. We'll see....
