Hello

I bought a 1993 gsxr 750 a few months ago. I haven't been much on it, because i have been injured the last 2 months as a result of a motocross accident.

I was just wondering how that bike performs compared to todays bikes in the same cc class.
I've been riding some motocross the last few years, mainly 250cc, and i also own a MZ 250 ETZ. So jumping on the GSX-R is a big boost in power.

However, i have been reading these "begginers guide" posts, and it seems that a 750 gixxer is suicide for one with my limited skills.
Many say that people should start off with a katana 600 and such bikes.
I must say, that i feel fairly comfirtable on my bike, and i don't race other guys till i have gotten to know the bike. I don't feel as if the bike is too much for me to handle.
But i still can't handle it very well in the turns.

So, is my bike tame in todays standards, and relatively equal to the beginner bikes you suggest to noobs?

Do you think that bike is too much power for one who has never riden a sport bike like that before?? It weighs 208 KG dry and has 118 HP with 47.000 km on it.

Now that all depends upon how it's set up ... and how it's been maintained. Are all the fluids new? (ALL of them, including the fork oil). Has the suspension been setup for you? Do you have new tires on it?

Bah. That's only to an uber-rider like you. Most of us street schmucks probably wouldn't notice without having ridden a new one for a few hours first.

I won't be modest at all about this. I think my 2004 GSXR 600 would probably beat the heck outta a 93 750. There have been many more advancements on engines since then. Mainly the fuel injection/air induction over carburation. Not to say your bikes sucks or is slow by any means but just different by today's standards.
