wassup, i found this site while looking on google for info/specs of a 1986 suzuki gsxR1100. which i hope to buy this weekend  .

anyway, alittle about me:
i owned my 1st bike this this year. it's a 1981 Honda cb650 custom. a friend of mine needed cash. i always wanted a bike. he said you can have it for $200 bucks. i hand'd him the cash  . so i'm a NOOB in the bike world still. the bike(cb650) isn't me. if you know what i mean. and ever since i started to ride this year. i wanted 'my style' bike. so i've been searching for an older style gsxR, cbr, ninja, katana, etc... living in Maine limits me of those choices. as in the availablity of them. but i did find a nice 1993 cbr900(if i remember right it was the 900). for $1500 OBO  . but by the time i called about it. it was gone  . like i mention'd above i now found a 1986 gsxR1100 for $1500 OBO. i know, i know it's a BIG diffirence from my honda cb650 custom. in power, handleing, etc... but i think i can respect the gsxR1100. and if it's too much of a bike for me. then i'll sell it. and get something that is.

i look forward to learning alot about bikes on this forum.

thanks

Hey! It's great that you're looking for a vintage bike instead of the newest, flashiest thing on the market. It shows that you have character.

Welcome.

thanks guys.

yea i figured i'd get an older bike since i know things happen. and being not that exp. with bikes. i can feel better about dumping a $1000-$2000 bike. rather a $7000 and up bike.

Welcome fellow New Englander! (I'm originally from Connecticut)

I think you'll find a nice balance of very experienced riders here and many newbies (like me). I can 't imagine getting into motorcycling without this site. I think my friends at work are tired of my newbie questions.

well i got ahold of the guy with the bike. and i told him all i had was $1000 to work with. and he said he'd like to get $1300 for the bike. but if i come down and look it over and what not. he just might take $1000 for it  . i'm going down to see the bike tomorrow afternoon.

Well...I think an 86 1100 is much different than an 04 1100...

but I could be wrong!
A lot different considering the "2004 1100" is actually a 1000 (988 cc's) .

The '04 1000 only weighs 370 lbs dry and is nearly as powerful as a Hayabusa.

That said, the '86 1100 was still a monster in it's day and is not something to be trifled with.

if i do buy the bike. and i feel it's too much of a machine for me to handle. then i'll resale it. i'm not into getting the 'fastest' bike thinking i'll be a bada$$ on it. thats how people get killed on bikes. i want a bike that is me. and that i feel comfortable on it and what not.

thanks
