I need some help here......

My wife is going for her license in April and she wanted to get my bike (GSXR600, I would have to buy a different one for me).
I told her that it would be too fast for a newbie but seeing that I started on that bike, really didn't have much to stand on..... After a few long talks she is now warming up to the idea of getting a SV650.....Naked (she likes the monster but I don't like the maintenance). Is this a better bike for a newbie....? Will I need to change the pipes to get the nice v-twin sound or are the original ones loud enough?
Any major problems with the V-twin engine?

Get your wifey an SV650 and tell her to ride it naked!! I ride mine naked all the time and I love it!!!!

Yeah you'll want to put a slip on cause the OEM can is wicked quite. Holeshot, Scorpion, Devil and Yosh are great ones to look at. As far as power goes and 0-100mph times these are the last things your wife should even be considering when getting a bike. Keeping the bike on 2 wheels, turning with confidence, riding in traffic and emergency braking are what she should be most concerned with for the first 12months of riding. The SV is faster then any car she's ever driven off the line and you can top it out at about 130mph if needed.

So if it's more a question of style and look then get her the SVS650, add on a lower fairing kit, rear seat cowl and she'll have the look of a super sport bike. This guy Jason has the best example of how sexy you can make an SVS!!! Oh yeah it has to be a yellow SVS too. :D

Check out what he's done to his SVS.

I ride a 02 that i got for cheap. I like it alot but would have liked the fuel injection of the newer ones so if youre gonna have it for a while, get a new one. But the sv's are fun for newbs and experienced riders.

Ditto the exhaust, and if it gets serious... work on the forks.

The Chad said:
just give her the gsxr and go up a tooth or two on the front to slow the accelleration a bit.

That was the original idea, if I cannot make her change her mind, lets slow down the bike.... The problem is the fact that she wants a bike with fairings. If I am going to pay for fairings for the sv650 might as well get the gsxr.

The SV looks pretty darn pretty with Suzuki's lower fairing. Eh?
