Hello all,
I am new here and have been browsing around for a couple of days, and really find a wealth of information here. I am 41, but a new motorcycle rider. Have signed up for my local MSF class, and take it the first week of April.

I have been looking at bikes for several weeks, and decided on a C50 today. I feel like I got a great deal, and am so excited, but hope also that its not too much bike for a beginner.

Looking forward to many happy (and safe) riding days ahead.

Regards,
John M.

:welcomes: John,

Enjoy the forum. As you said, lots of useful information floating around here. Pay close attention at your MSF class. Stay focused when riding and get some good gear. Just remember when you are out on the road, ride like you are invisible. Respect your new ride and you'll be fine. Save the showing off for the kids and you'll stay upright! Have you had any previous riding experience? :biker:

Welcome, John!! Always good to see that yet another has succumed to the charms of the C50 :)

So long as you keep your wits about you, I think you'll do fine with the C50 as a new rider. My obviously biased opinion is that the bike doesn't have enough power to get you into trouble as fast as a 600 gixxer, but it does have enough power to break any number of traffic codes and you'll probably never see the top end anyhow, else you wouldn't have opted for a cruiser :)

Thanks Everyone,
I am in the Kansas City, Missouri area. There are lots of quiet backroads around where I live that I plan to use till I get my comfort level up. And, I have several good friends willing to coach me along the way too. Mostly expect to do short jaunts in the suburbs and the country. It will be only me on the bike. No highway stuff is planned.

I have ridden dirt bikes as a kid, but I am considering myself a brand new rider. My main apprehension in getting this was that it is a new bike, and not exactly small, but I am a careful person and not inclined to show off. I am an X-Ray tech, and did X-Rays and CAT Scans for many years, so I have seen the effects of crashes.

I fell in love with this bike almost immediately, after sitting on 5-6 others, and am really looking forward to it. I am going to the dealer with a check after work tonight, and they are going to deliver it sometime next week. I believe I got a great price, and they are including a windshield too, which I am pretty happy about.

Dang, another 41 year old C50 rider. :bluethum: Welcome! I think you made a great bike choice. I too rode dirt bikes in my younger days. Dirt bikes are much taller and lighter - but experience shifting and clutching goes a long way.
