Nitrous is fun, but I have never really trusted it too much on a bike. Love having it in cages though. Biggest dislike is that you have to constantly re-fill the bottle and turn the system on when you want it. Turbo is always there, just waiting for you to apply

depends on the system you use, on a small blosk V8 you can hammer out an extra 250 bhp on an already strong motor with nos. I'd like to see a turbo do that LOL

Where in America can you even think of using NO2 injection on public roads???

Don't you guys think about the cat/dog/child/adult that is just waiting to jump in front of you at the next opportunity?

In that case, why do people even mod vehicles/bikes? Why try to gain horsepower on anythign when the stock stuff does the job? Its just a guy thing to know ya got the extra power if needed. IF a kid/cat/dog/adult jumps out in from of you, there ust as screwed with a stock motor than if the motor is puttin out 500 ponies.

With a stock engine, the bike may accelerate from 0 to 60 in 4 to 5 seconds, but I never use maximum acceleration on my bike (and rarely in my car). With NO2 injection, the acceleration is MUCH faster - which is way too fast for the human mind to cope with. With a reaction-time of just under a second, it does make a difference if I'm accelerating moderately or like a f'ing rocket...it can mean the difference of life and death for everyone involved.

I have alot of respect for those people on the Autobahn driving a Viper / Ferrari / Maserati / Porsche in the right lane at 120 kmh. That is a sign of maturity imho - they could just blast down the left lane at 250 kmh - and they choose not to. Cool.

I'll ignore the tired debate on street riding.

Knoc, that's an overly generalized statement. Centrifigal superchargers are almost exactly like turbos in their design, and they too are slow to wind up. "Spooling" is a misnomer, since all superchargers (including turbos) depend on engine speed. Positive displacement superchargers, on the other hand, tend to offer more boost at lower rpm.

Also, superchargers draw significantly more power from the engine to operate. On a built street Mustang, for example, it can take 75-100 hp just to turn the blower.

Only one of us fell into the Fast and Furious-induced fashion trend of calling nitrous NOS, which is incorrect. Good work!

not to sure what type of supercharger you'r talking about, but never do they take 70 bhp to operate. They might make 100bhp or more, depending on the size. If they took 70-100 bhp to run, you'd be going through belts every 5 miles, and just replacing the power you took away. As for nitrous being called NOS being incorrect, no, it's just become a common short hand to use the largest nitrous equipment company's name instead of nitrous oxcide. Everyone who reads or hears nos is capable to look at the context in which it is used and figure it out, with the exception of the the ainal retentive superiority complex among us. Aand no don't care if there are spelling errors.

Chad, no need for personal attacks.

Disagree with the statement ? Then a rebuttal is in order ! Go ahead and give your opinion, if you can document it even better.

The Meatman was just giving his opinion and not attacking anybody so your response is out of line.

I'm not an expert on superchargers but this talk of specific horsepower gains seems out of line with what I do know. What I've always been told the degree of boost is becomes a factor that multiplies the original HP of an engine. 7-8 lbs of boost can increase horsepower by 35-40 % a boost of 12lbs can double the original HP etc. You aren't going to take a 100hp engine and add a big supercharger and make it produce 500 hp.

I think you need to look at new superchargers because none of that even matches up with any that I have seen. Them numbers are way off but I agree with it within the most part. They do take a little more ponies to turn over but nothing even to noticable.. I have a supercharger in my daily driver on a 350 and the thing rocks! I had a Mazda with a T6 turbo in it with 25 lbs of boost, and I would take the super charger over turbo ANYDAY but thats just me.. Im kinda "anti-Rice" so the shoe fits.. and Nitrous will work well as long as the rest of the motor has been built around that. For the kids today slapping a 100 shot on there stock b16 vtec motor, all its gonna do is strain the motor and blow it up.. BUT I have seen ALOT of cars done up right with it, and have the bottom ends done and get crazy horsepower gains. But again the power goes away, tubo power comes slower but will be there, and superchargers are there instantly. Yeah the turbos can probably crank out a couple more ponies, but there "Patient" ponies.

and btw, people have been calling Nitrous "Nos" for years.. Way before some ricey movie came out.. Nitrous isnt anything new.. it been around for years. Just this stupid movie opened its eyes to dumb kids everywhere.. Same with Drifting.. ITs a big "fad" now when its been around for years... But whatever.. Its something Ill never get I guess..
