Hi

Firstly, apologies for double posting, but I posted this in the wrong forum and I can't see how to delete/move the other one :fight1:

I bought a 55 plate EN125-2A about 6 months ago and it's going very well.

I've noticed some leakage around the fork seals which I want to sort out myself if possible. I'm moderately experienced in car mechanics, with the help of a haynes bible, but I can't find anything similar for my bike.

It's m first bike and I don't know very much about them (but want to learn). Does anyone know if one of the other model's manuals would be any good e.g. GN125? Or even better when I can get hold of a service manual for an EN125.

I've also noticed a "ticking" noise when I rev the engine, which I'd like to tinker with until I get to the bottom of it, can anyone offer any suggestions?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Almost every bike ever built has some noticeable "ticking" noise at some engine speed. Unless it has a LOT of miles on it, it is probably normal.

If its a two stroke then it cannot be valve adjustment. If its a four stroke then I would suggest it is.

To set the valve clearance you must have specs for your bike... using the specs of a different one will almost certainly be incorrect.

As for the fork seals these are not a hard item to replace but do usually entail removal of other items such as brake calipers, wheels, possibly yokes/triple trees etc... It is advisable to get a manual to find out what the least has to be removed to save time. You will also need the torque settings of all removed items for re-assembly.

Fork seals are generally not too hard to actually remove and replace and do not usually do not need special tools.

As most bikes differ in most area's it is vital you get some sort of diagram plus specs.

What is meant by "55 plate" is that the year?

If so those early Jap bikes almost always copied the British iron of the day and removal and replacement of the seals should be pretty much straight forward and use of common sense will be all that is required

Sorry, yeah I forgot that 55 plate won't mean anything except people from the UK. It's a 2005 model, but everything is very basic, so probably isn't that different from a '55 bike!

I'll post some pics when I get home. If I'd known how hard it was to get specs/manuals/information for, I wouldn't have bought it, but the bike itself has done me fairly well as a practice bike until I take my full test later this year.
