I am in the market for a dual sport bike and looking seriously at the drz400s. Always wanted one of these and now at age 40 I want to relive some of my youth...are there many off road trails around the immediate LA area? As much as I plan on riding the bike short distances around town, I'd like the opportunity to hit a fire road or two. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, I am getting quoted prices including title, tax, reg of 5400.00..is this any good? Is there much room to negotiate on a dual sport?

the drz400 is great but you might also want to check out the DR650SE. A bit less money than the 400 and way more capable if you want to do a bit of highway riding. Not bad in the dirt and a reasonable seat height.

I enjoyed mine over 5 years before moving up to the V-Strom 1000.
