when was the lase time you topped up the oil? please tell me you check it befor and after each ride. With that milage in it, I wouldn't worry about 250ml of oil every 1000km, totally normal. I don't go through that much, mind you I have nearly tthe same milage on my 02 gsxr 1000, and I ride it hard. Don't worry about using a bit of oil, just qeep your eyes on it.

i check the oil evry time i take the bike for a ride..The bike ha s 20000 km on its back but only 2000 are mine. For a high performance engine like ours isnt it strange to have that kind of oil consumption since the clearence of the compression rings sould be small due to high compression??

compression rings DO NOT clean oil off the cylinder walls, that is the job of the oil scraper rings. If the prievious owner didn't rev it, you can get carbon build up, and it will plug the oil drain holes in the pistons, then it has nowhere to go. The oil could be going past the valve seals as well. To be honest, there is nothing that you can do, other than 2 things. #1, try doing freequent oil changes to try to clean out some of the build up inside the motor. #2, tear down and rebuild.
