Hello all! I just bought a '99 Bandit 600s about 2 weeks ago. The other day I noticed a small puddle under the engine. Upon further inspection, I noticed that it appeared to be motor oil. Apparently one of the bolts that requires a hex/allen wrentch is leaking. i think it may be a gasket or the bolt itself. This is where the bolt is located. (not actual bike)

Since it leaks whenever I park it, what do i need to do? Should i put more oil in? Should I take it back to the dealer (with whom i have free routine maintinence)? I don't want the engine to seize and I know it's a fixable problem. any suggestions? I can get more pictures and will do so around lunch time (an hour from now).

If it is coming from the side cover, try GENTLY torquing the bolts down using the allen wrench. The torque specs aren't that high for the side covers. You'll strip it out if you overtorque it.

If it stops, great. If not, most likely is the gasket. They are pretty cheap from Suzuki. It is also very easy to change out. 15-20 minute job usually.

Yeah, drain it and replace. It is a very common part. Most dealers carry them in stock. If it was a cover on the right side, you could get away w/having it on the sidestand and not drain the oil.

You might as well get a filter too, and do an oil change while you are at it.
