My brother and I had been for a half day ride. I was on a new LC1500 getting use to it. We pulled into the driveway an put down the kick stands.
Not thinking about the ground much which was down hill very little;the bike moved forward and the kick stand folded up and down went the new bike! ALWAYS check the level before parking. I aso think the stand could
or should be moved forwrd and maybe swing out a little more for better balance.

That's why I prefer to leave it on the side stand, and in 1st gear. It won't move anywhere that way. Sorry to hear your bike went down.

You always want the weight of the bike pulling against the kickstand, not pushing towards it.

They emphasise that here during your MC training - always park the bike in 1st gear and roll it forward until the gear is fully engaged, then put down the side stand. That way, the bike can't roll any further forward (causing the stand to fold up).

Thanks for all input.I guess I didn't push it in 1st gear all the way when I stoped. That let it roll forward and fall. Live and learn. All I had to replace was a mirror and turn signal plus kick my brother for laughing so hard.

Hayabusa side stands are purportedly notorious for folding up and many guys do the side stand "mod" - but I'm a little sceptical.

My 'Busa weathered quite a few earthquakes on its side stand and only fell over when some azzclown backed into it with a land yacht.

Just make sure the sidestand is fully out and the bike isn't pointed downhill.

Hardware> you may of been either very lucky so far or the factory messed up and gave you a side stand that actually works. If your happy with what you have then no worries anywhere. I have seen too many busa's (including mine) fall for absolutely no reason whatsoever aside from the stand not swinging out far enough keeping the bike a bit to verticle. Glad you haven't seen this yet though!
