I bought this on ebay, and was told it is a GS650. But I don't think it is. Maybe it is, I just don't know. It is on an E reg. There is no V5 as yet, I did however buy it from a business and have a receipt, so everything is fairly safe. Please could you tell me what you think it is. It is missing some fairing. I haven't even checked the VIN or engine spec as it was too dark when I got it home. I will tomorrow however, and will post it.

Man I really don't know.....I'm not too good with older bikes. For some reason it looks like an older Ninja....but I'm not sure again.......

You can definately figure it out with the VIN though.

I have found something

I found this picture, it is a GS550ES

http://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/...E-ES_US-sales1/1985_GS550E-ES_sales1c_800.jpg

Most of it looks the same with a couple of exceptions:
1. I'm sure the engine is a 650, I will confirm later today.
2. There is only one disc brake on the front!!
3. The GS in the brochure is half faired, mine has attachments for what I presume is full fairing.

In answer to your posts,
I bought it for £155 and travelled to London and back to get it. It has a few minor issues to fix after being dropped. I plan to almost cross it with a rat and streetfighter. I did want to paint it a dark colour, but my wife suggests otherwise for safety reasons. I agree with her, our roads can be very dangerous in the summer with all the tourists in volvos.

Project: Replace engine gaskets and rings, usual service, halogen spots, uprated brakes, new clocks, trim a bit of the fairing of the back and totally remove the front fairing. Anyone know if I can change the back wheel/tyre for a slightly wider one, as it's a bit thin? Any suggestions as to what I can do with the brakes? These are both slightly grey areas for me.

Overall, I got a deal.

I would note the VIN number, then contact any Suzuki dealer - they should be able to look it up in their records and give you details about the exact model and year.

EDIT: I just noticed that you are in the UK - you might also check the Suzuki Owners Club - http://www.suzukiownersclub.co.uk/
