Hey guys! This is an awesome forum. And I'm impressed at all the knowledge. Maybe someone here will have a solution to my problem. I have an 84 DR250. The bike is like new. New engine... everything. However... The bike starts and runs perfectly for about 20 minutes... then dies. If I let it Idle it dies faster. If I'm riding hard, it will last longer. Now it's at a point where it won't even start. The carb has been cleaned and adjusted. The light comes on when kick starting, so I think the magneto is ok. There is lots of compression. Any ideas????

Rather than sanding the finish off your motor, just hook up a jumper wire to a bare bolt or bracket. :!:

Yeah... did that. Don't know why I was thinking of sanding.

UPDATE: I tried another coil (same cdi) and still can't get spark. Also tried different Plug. New coil make more voltage. Also tried coil from non-cdi system, and got lots of voltage. Anyone know how much voltage I'm supposed to be getting when kicking, and where? Also, anyone know if a non-cdi ignition should work?
